The mother of the former governor of Cross River State Mrs Genevieve Duke is dead.
She was reported to have entered a state of coma on August 1, and peacefully transitioned on Friday August 25, as revealed by her son Mr. Donald Duke.
She lived to the age of 94.
According to Duke, Coincidentally and interestingly, she slipped in to a state of coma on the 35th anniversary of her husband and their father’s passing.
The couple was said to have had five children, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr.Duke, former governor of Cross River State conveyed in a statement that her earthly journey will culminate in a final rest on Wednesday August 30, 2023, at Grailland on Iju Hills, in accordance with the Grail Funeral Rites.
He extends an invitation to this solemn event schedule to commence at 3:p.m.and kindly request prior notification of attendance preferably by Monday the 28th of August ( as invitation slips are necessary).
He said to ensure proper admission, it advised to arrive at the venue at least an hour before the proceedings begin, as the doors will be closed 10 minutes before the funeral starts.
“A reception will follow immediately after the internment at the Assembly Hall,” Mr. Duke said, “the appropriate attire for the occasion is somber formal wear-a dark suit or traditional attire without a cap for men and for women knee-length dresses with cover shoulders and without headgear.”
