As at the time of filing this report all offices were under locked and key in Calabar the Cross River State capital.

The Chairman Nigeria Labour Congress NLC (Cross River State branch), Comrade Gregory Olayi, said from what he has seen, they have succeeded in causing their members to stay at home.

Olayi boasted while speaking to journalists after he concluded inspection of offices to see wether workers adhered to the two days warning strike declared by NLC in Càlabar.

At the Office of the Head of Service Cross River State, where he bragged about how his leadership of the Union succeeded in causing workers to stay at home, Truth Live News confirmed that there were no people in the offices.

“There is nobody in any of the offices. We are standing right in front of Office of Head of Service Cross River State, there are no people at the offices, ” Olayi said.

“We are happy that we succeeded in making our members stay at home for the warning strike. “We were out this morning to see how effective we are regarding the warning strike.”

While thanking workers for heeding to the directive, he said “All offices are under lock and key. The gate you see here is also shut. We have been to so many offices, they are all under locked and key.”

The NLC boss rhetorically asked how would a person come up with policies that subdues the people after being voted to power? saying that they are angry that the Political class are initiating policies that are not human friendly.

When he was asked to explain if the absence of Trade Union Congress (TUC) from the two days warning strike would not affect the strike action at a long run, the NLC chairman said, “TUC Absence from this exercise is no issue.”

Olayi solicited that the Union’s members remain together as a team because it was the surest way to achieve success.
