Senator Gabriel Suswam of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been declared the winner of the Benue North East Senatorial District election by the Tribunal.
The Tribunal’s new results show that Senator Suswam secured 90,590 votes, surpassing the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate who received 82,699 votes.
This development comes as a result of an election petition brought by Senator Suswam challenging the initial victory of Rt. Hon Emmanuel Udende in the March 2023 Senatorial election.
The National/State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, sitting in Makurdi, had adjourned the case to June 9 and 10, 2023.
