The Minister of Work, Chief David Umahi, has asserted his authority to determine his successor as the senator representing Ebonyi South district within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He made this declaration during his visit to Governor Francis Nwifuru as part of his state-wide inspection of federal roads.
Umahi emphasized that, being a significant figure in the APC, only the governor holds a higher position within the party in Ebonyi.
He stated that they would work to ensure that the APC candidate for the Senate ticket comes from Ohaozara, his Local Government Area, and that this decision would be discussed with the governor and addressed through the legal process if necessary.
Furthermore, he expressed gratitude to the governor for supporting his efforts to have Chief Onyekachi Nwebonyi (APC-Ebonyi Central) assume the role of Senate deputy majority leader.
He assured the governor that there would be no internal party strife over leadership, emphasizing that unity is valued by President Tinubu.
“It is not every governor that wouid want his subject to grow but I want to assure you of complete comfort.
‘President Tinubu does not like division and be assured that you are not struggling for the party’s leadership with anyone,” he said.
