The Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt Hon. Peter Odey has lauded the Muslim Community for their support during the last general elections in the state.
Hon Odey gave the commendation when the Hausa/ Fulani Community Leadership in the State led by the Head of Muslims, Alhaji Garuba Lawan visited him in his office in Calabar.
While responding to their request for political appointment, the deputy Governor assured them that in due time, they will be called upon to contribute their quota to the development of the State.
He used the occasion to promise them of continued peaceful coexistence saying without peace no meaningful development can thrive.
Earlier, the head of Hausa/Fulani Muslim Community in the State, Alhaji Garuba Lawan said they were in his office to congratulate the Governor Sen Bassey Edet Otu and his deputy Rt Hon. Peter Odey on their election victories.
Alhaji Lawan solicited Inclusion of Muslim into the Administration of the state saying it would enable them to contribute their quota, especially in the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
Lawan who believes that they voted massively for the duo at the polls and supported the administration since inception, said that they should be considered for appointments.
The Muslim leader acompanied by Alhaji Sani Baba Gombe, Sheik Abduqadir Bature, Major Moshood Abdiqadir, lmam Kabir Olowolayemo and Alhaji Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, also stated that most of them who were born here in Cross River have lived all their lives in the State.
