In a firm declaration, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State reiterated his unwavering commitment to avoid seeking loans from financial institutions for funding the state’s operations. During the inaugural session of the “Ipade Imole” quarterly public engagement forum in Osogbo, he laid out his administration’s resolve to generate funds internally to support various projects.
Governor Adeleke proudly showcased his government’s accomplishments and unveiled plans to allocate the N2 billion palliative fund received from the federal government to critical initiatives. These initiatives encompass infrastructure renovations, the acquisition of additional buses for affordable transportation, and the revitalization of healthcare facilities across the state.
He underlined his dedication to Osun’s development, highlighting his decision to allocate his security vote toward state projects instead of keeping it for personal use, setting a leadership example.
Furthermore, Governor Adeleke disclosed that his administration had prioritized projects to be funded through the Federal Government’s Infrastructure Support Fund. Notably, this includes the construction of a flyover in the state capital.
He stated, “We intend to utilize the N2 billion to support several projects, such as road dualization in the senatorial districts, the construction of flyover bridges in Osogbo and other towns, street lighting for newly constructed roads, the creation of a second stream of 332 boreholes across wards, the commencement of Imole transport service, and the development of Imole Housing Estate with 500 units per federal constituency.”
However, the opposition party has accused the governor of diverting money assigned for palliatives to other projects while the people bear the brunt.
Governor Adeleke’s unwavering commitment to financial prudence and the generation of internal revenue demonstrates a resolute effort to drive the progress and development of Osun State without relying on external loans.
