On Saturday, October 14, the Borno State Police Command was able to stop train coaches from being abducted at the Maiduguri Railway Terminus.

Law enforcement officials reportedly caught the perpetrators after acting on a tip from locals, according to an NTA News report.

When reached, Mahmood Yakubu, the Nigerian Railway Corporation spokesperson, denied knowledge of the event and suggested getting in touch with the regional manager.

Unfortunately, the regional manager’s phone was off when we tried to reach them.

However, police command spokeswoman Sami Kamilu verified the incident and disclosed that six individuals had been apprehended.

Kamilu said: “Yes, it’s confirmed. We can’t confirm the number of train coaches yet but it is true. We also arrested six suspects and that is all I can tell you for now.”
