Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, an ex- People Democratic Party PDP’s presidential aspirant who withdrew from the Presidential Primaries has rallied support for Sen Abubakar Bukola Saraki, as the next PDP National Chairman.
He said Saraki was eminently qualified to lead the opposition party at this crucial time.
A statement he personally signed, he expressed confidence in the former senate president’s ability to reconcile all the aggrieved members and groups within the party.
To ensure check and balance Anakwenze, said if Saraki, a Northerner, becomes the national chairman then the party’s next presidential candidate should come from the South.
He said this will restore the confidence of the aggrieved members and that of the generality of Nigerians in the PDP as their own party.
Via its X handle, Leadership reports that Anakwenze, has warned against repeating the mistake of the past of not considering the feelings and sentiments of members of the party from the South.
“It would be too disastrous, if feelings and sentiments of members of the party from the South is not considered.”
Born in Irrua, Edo State, Nigeria on the 28th day of August ,1952. Anakwenze said they felt marginalised and aggrieved under the sacked Iyorchia Ayu leadership.
“At the root of the crisis rocking our great party the PDP today is the crass impunity displayed under the sacked leadership of the party,” he added.
According to him, Its wrong position of picking both the National Chairman and Presidential Candidate from the North and pretended that the Southern section of the Country do not exist should be addressed.
“The party urgently needed to learn from the leadership crisis which almost destroyed it,” he noted. “And was still rocking it.”
