President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu could not hide his happiness, briefly after the Supreme Court on Thursday upheld his victory in the February 25 presidential election.
Recall Truth Live News reported earlier that the apex court in its ruling dismissed the appeals by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar and his Labour Party (LP) counterpart Peter Obi.
In a landmark decision, the Supreme Court of Nigeria quashed the appeal lodged by the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and The Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi challenging the electoral success of President Bola Tinubu. The apex court’s judgment, delivered by Justice Inyang Okoro, found the petition to be incompetent and without merit.
The appeal primarily hinged on allegations of irregularities and the purported presentation of forged academic certificates by President Tinubu. However, the court ruled that the failure to transmit election results electronically did not impact the validity of the election and thus did not justify nullification.
Moreover, both candidates was unable to provide alternative election results demonstrating that he had secured the majority of votes, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
President Tinubu responded to this significant legal victory with a call for unity and dedication to the nation. He emphasized his commitment to the betterment of Nigeria and urged citizens to adopt a positive outlook. Tinubu stressed the importance of patriotism and a healthy attitude towards the country, particularly for the sake of future generations.
In his words, President Tinubu expressed, “I have started working from day 1, regardless of the court case. It has strengthened my resolve to do more. A victory of this nature is more work and more dedication. I appeal to Nigerians, let us be positive about Nigeria, be ready to contribute in all ways possible. It is important that we realize that we have no other country but this one. Our dedication must be to the creed of patriotism. We must have a healthy attitude towards Nigeria for the sake of our children and grandchildren.”
This Supreme Court ruling solidifies President Tinubu’s electoral win and sets the stage for the continued development of Nigeria under his leadership.
