In Paris, police shot a woman who allegedly made threats to blow herself up and issued death threats on a train while expressing support for terrorism, as reported by BBC news.
According to the Paris prosecutor’s office, two police officers fired eight shots, causing serious injuries to the woman, after intercepting her at a train station.
This action was taken in response to reports from train passengers who were alarmed by the woman’s threatening behavior.
Government spokesman Olivier Veran mentioned that the woman made remarks of a nature associated with Islamism, causing concern among other passengers.
The woman was wearing a long robe known as an abaya, commonly worn by Muslims. She used phrases like “You’re all going to get it,” “Allahu akbar” (which means “God is great” in Arabic), and “Boom,” as reported by Paris police chief Laurent Nunez.
The incident occurred at a Metro and suburban train station in eastern Paris that serves the François Mitterrand national library.
Although the station was evacuated, a search revealed that the woman was not carrying explosives, as confirmed by the police chief.
Two separate investigations have been initiated by authorities: one to examine the woman’s actions and the other to assess whether the police’s use of firearms was justified.
This incident happened amid heightened tensions in France related to the Israel-Hamas conflict. Just earlier this month, a teacher was killed and two others seriously injured in a school in northern France by an attacker who reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar.”
