A ValueJet aircraft had a close call on the runway at Port Harcourt International Airport, causing injuries to passengers.

Fortunately, there were no reported fatalities, but this follows a series of recent aviation incidents in Nigeria. Days before, an Aero Contractors Airlines’ Boeing 737 Jet crash-landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, deemed a ‘serious accident’ by the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau.
Another incident involved a Flint Aero private HS25B aircraft narrowly avoiding disaster during a runway landing in Ibadan, Oyo State, with all passengers, including the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, escaping unharmed.
