Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has decided to part ways with the online realm, bidding adieu to both supporters and critics on his social media platform, as reported by Truth Live News. Uzoho took the step of deactivating his account on X (previously known as Twitter).

His departure from the virtual landscape comes on the heels of Nigeria’s less-than-stellar performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where the three-time African champions struggled to secure wins, managing only draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

During the matches, Uzoho manned the goalposts, witnessing the Super Eagles settle for a 1-1 tie with Lesotho and another identical scoreline against Zimbabwe, requiring a second-half effort from Kelechi Iheanacho to salvage the latter draw.

Despite not directly contributing to the goals conceded, particularly the long-range free-kick that handed Zimbabwe an early advantage in Rwanda, Uzoho faced disappointment from fans. His standing had already been shaky following Nigeria’s loss to Ghana in the race for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and recent subpar performances in friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique further intensified the scrutiny.

Criticism mounted as supporters and pundits clamored for head coach Jose Peseiro to reconsider Uzoho’s position as the Super Eagles’ top goalkeeper, citing his unconvincing displays.

The exact reason behind Uzoho’s decision to deactivate his account remains unclear, but a visit to his Twitter handle on X, @Uzohof, reveals its non-existence. Meanwhile, the 25-year-old shot-stopper’s Instagram account remains active, allowing fans to stay connected in a different virtual space.
