Kidnappers Free 1–out-–of–5 Abducted Female Students After 50 Days In Captivity

After being held captive for about 50 days, one of the five kidnapped female students from Katsina State’s Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) has been released.

Following her escape from her captor, she was carried to Kuncin Kalgo, a hamlet in Zamfara State’s Tsafe Local Government. On Sunday, she was transferred to Katsina, where she is presently undergoing medical care at a hospital.

Her release was confirmed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina by Aliyu Abubakar-Sadiq, the spokesperson for the Katsina State Police Command.

On October 3, 2023, at around two in the morning, gunmen broke into the flats behind Mariamoh Ajiri Memorial School in Dutsinma and kidnapped the pupils.

Days after the arrest, the police claimed they arrested a suspected informant to the terrorists. The police have not released further details.
