The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has swiftly responded to a viral TikTok video alleging the recent demolition of a plaza on Lobito Crescent, Wuse II, in Abuja. In a press release, the FCTA refuted the claims, revealing that the circulated video is actually from 2021, and not a current event.

In a statement made available to TruthLive News, The FCTA emphasized that rather than demolition, the Department of Development Control identified a usage infraction with the building. Measures were taken to address the issue responsibly, and a portion of the structure was removed to ensure compliance with regulations. Contrary to the alarming video claims, the building remains standing, as demonstrated in a current photo attached to the press release.

Expressing strong condemnation for the deliberate spread of false information, the FCTA highlighted the detrimental impact on community trust and security. The release particularly addressed the ethnic coloration attached to the misinformation, deeming it counterproductive and urging promoters to refrain from such actions.

Anthony Ogunleye, the Director of Press at the Office of the FCT Minister, emphasized the commitment to transparent communication and responsible governance. Residents were encouraged to verify information from reliable sources before spreading it further.

In conclusion, the FCTA assured residents of its dedication to enforcing regulations while prioritizing the well-being and safety of the community. The press release, dated November 26, 2023, included current photos of the plaza, reaffirming its intact status and dispelling the misleading information circulated on social media.
