The Sierra Leone police on Tuesday, announced the search for 34 individuals believed to be linked to the recent suspected coup attempt that occurred last Sunday.

These individuals, whose images were made public by the Sierra Leone police, are being sought for questioning regarding their involvement in the attempted coup, which commenced with an assault on the armoury at the Wilberforce Barracks in Freetown.

Among the 34 wanted individuals are both military personnel and civilians, including two women.

This attempted coup marks the second such incident in the country, following a disputed presidential election that resulted in the re-election of incumbent President Julius Mada Bio for a second term.

The initial coup attempt occurred around three months ago, triggered by a disputed presidential election in June. Presently, eight nations in West and Central Africa are under military rule following a series of coups, with Guinea among them.

Despite this, the United States, European Union, United Kingdom, and the regional body Economic Community of West African States have all released statements strongly condemning the violence that transpired on Sunday.
