Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration in Zamfara State reportedly recovers all fifty vehicles allegedly taken by the former Governor, Bello Matawalle.

The retrieval, following a Federal High Court judgment in Sokoto, was confirmed during a press briefing in Gusau on Thursday by Governor Lawal’s spokesperson, Sani Sambo.

He emphasized that the recovery was in line with due process, carried out at Matawalle’s former residences despite his initial denial of having government property.

Sambo stated that the Governor Dauda Lawal-led administration is doing everything possible to bring about the desired development in the state but not to witch hunt or project anyone in a bad light.

After assuming office on May 29, 2023, controversies arose regarding missing operational vehicles and misappropriated public funds.

Security agencies conducted raids on Matawalle’s residences in Gusau and Maradun, recovering some vehicles.

Matawalle had previously obtained a court order restraining the state government, but the court in Sokoto reportedly dismissed his case.
