The Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has dinned and wined with practicing Journalists in the state as a mark of appreciation for their contributions to the development of the state.
The ceremony which took place at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council main hall, saw top government functionaries, friends of Journalists, practicing Journalists and veterans in attendance.
Truth Live News reports that this is the second time the governor is meeting with Journalists in the state in the ongoing year.
The essence is to get to know them more and to cement the cordial relationships that he has built even before he became the governor of the state while serving as the head of the Economic Team under the former governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshiomhole.
The governor, during his first visit, promised to give the union free internet service to enable practicing Journalists in the state, do their job without any hitches.
Truth Live News reports that the governor, during the week, fulfilled his promise to them and at the moment, they are sending their stories and enjoying the free internet facility.
Truth Live News also reports that, besides the internet facility, the governor has also given the union 24 hours light which those making use of the union’s facilities used for over a year for free before they were told recently to get their meters and which they are complying with.
For practicing Journalists in the state under the tenure of governor Godwin Obaseki, it has always been a good story and a tenure that will forever be remembered for good and a government which believes in the well being of all than that of a microscopic few in the state.
Truth Live News Media further reports that, the chairman of the union, Comrade Festus Alenkhe has earlier told the governor that there are 15 chapels in the NUJ, Edo State Council and he (Obaseki) has since internalized that.
