New Year Celebration: C’River Deputy Gov. Gifts Car To Priest, Donates Cash To Monarch In Ogoja

In his determination to celebrate the new year activities in his Ogoja hometown, the Cross River State Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey has donated undisclosed amount of cash to the Paramount Ruler of Ogoja, HRM, Oti Mathias Odey Abua.

As a gesture of goodwill and solidarity for the New Year celebration, Odey on Sunday while on courtesy visit to the monarch also presented some food items to him.

A statement made available to Truth Live News by the Chief Press Secretary to the deputy governor Fred Abua Esq. Said that the Deputy Governor has donated a Car to Rev. Jake Otonco.

Rev. Otonco who is a priest in charge of Catholic Parish in Odajie, Mbube, Ogoja LGA, Northern Senatorial District, South South Nigeria has served 35 years in the priesthood.

Odey with a gut feeling of satisfaction made a donation towards the Church building, saying Rev. Otonco was instrumental in his personal and professional growth.

He said it was the priest who supported his post graduate studies at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium.

In a separate event, the Deputy Governor also celebrated the 90th birthday of a respected community leader in Mbube, Ogoja LGA, Chief Julius Abua Abang.

Chief Abang who is the father of the former Attorney General of Cross River State Barr. Joe Oshie Abang, is surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In honour of the nonagenarian Hon Odey, praised Chief Abang’s reputation and longevity, while expressing joy at seeing him with such a magnificent achievements.

On his part, HRM Oti Mathias Odey Abua, expressed joy and gratitude for having the state’s second-in-command celebrates the New year with him.

He commended the Deputy Governor for his humility and service to the people of Cross River State and presented some fat tubers of yam to him.

The monarch prayed God to protect him and grant him success throughout his time in government.

Accompanied the Deputy Governor on the visit were his Head of Personnel Staff, Dr. Chris Ojikpong, political appointees and friends.
