The Christian Association of Nigeria on Monday led protests over continuous killings in Plateau State and other parts of the country.

Named the “Plateau Peace Walk,” this ongoing demonstration is being led by Reverend Polycarp Lubo, the state CAN chairman, joined by Reverend Dr. Stephen Baba Panya, President of ECWA, Reverend Dr. Amos Mohzo, President of COCIN, Reverend Nkechi Nwosu, the Bishop of the Methodist Church in Jos, along with Reverend Dr. Gideon ParaMallam, President of the Gideon and Funmi-ParaMallam Peace Foundation, and several other esteemed Christian leaders in the region.

Commencing the peace walk from the PRTVC Roundabout in Jos, the protesters are en route to the Rayfield Government House, aiming to voice their strong disapproval of the prevailing security crisis.

Truthlive news reports that over 100 persons were attacked and killed in 17 villages in the Barkin Ladi, Mangu, and Bokkos Local Government Areas of the state on Christmas Eve.

The assaults displaced more than 10,000 individuals, forcing them to seek refuge in various places such as churches, mosques, schools, and private homes.

The latest statistics depict a staggering death toll surpassing 200, painting a grim picture of the escalating violence and tragedy plaguing the region.
