Edo State has solidified its commitment to sustainable energy solutions through a strategic partnership with Oando Clean Energy Limited.
The government, represented by Secretary to the State Government Osarodion Ogie Esq., inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Government House in Benin City.
Truth Live News gathered that the collaboration aims to revolutionize the state’s transportation system with the deployment of electric buses.
Edo State, under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki, is taking a proactive approach to provide clean energy access to every community.
Obaseki emphasized the state’s dedication to clean energy, expressing enthusiasm for being at the forefront among other states. He assured that Edo would uphold its commitment in the partnership with Oando Energy.
Dr. Ojeifoh Enaholo, the Commissioner for Mining and Energy, outlined the phased implementation of the electric bus scheme, starting with five buses for the initial phase.
Simultaneously, the state sealed a deal for a wind energy project boasting a capacity of 175 Megawatts. The wind energy initiative, starting with a pilot scheme, aims to revolutionize the state’s electricity sector.
Enaholo highlighted the installation of charging stations for vehicle batteries, equipped with all necessary facilities. These projects align with Governor Obaseki’s administration’s quick-win and finishing-strong initiatives, emphasizing support for existing power generation structures.
