Gov Otti Appoints Okonjo-Iweala, Sanusi, Others As Members Of Economic Council in Abia

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has established the Abia Global Economic Advisory Council (AGEAC) as part of his administration’s strategic plan for the comprehensive economic development of the state.

Otti, through a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kazie Uko, disclosed the appointment of 19 distinguished individuals to serve on the Abia Global Economic Advisory Council.

The primary objective of constituting this economic advisory council is to transform Abia into a self-sufficient economic hub.

The appointed members include Arunma Oteh as Co-Chairman, former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, serving as Co-Chairman, Bolaji Balogun, who will also act as a Co-Chairman. and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, GCON as Honourary Advisor

Other esteemed members of the Council, as stated by the state government, comprise Victor Onyenkpa, Ifueko Omoigui Okauru, Mr. Chidi Ajaegbu, Mr. Uche Orji, Ndidi Nwuneli, Mr. Chika Nwobi, and Olugbenga Adesida. Additionally, the Council includes Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe, Mazi Clement Owunna, Dr. Uzodinma Iweala, Ezinwa Okoroafor, Mr. George Agu, Mazi Uzo Nwankwo, and Mr. Chinedu Azodoh.

“The economy of Abia State had suffered neglect and became fragile due to untold economic sabotage, over the years and from the wreckage of over the last two decades” it said.

The release added that newly appointed members bring a wealth of experience and expertise in various sectors to enhance the diversity and dynamism of the AGEAC.
