In a letter dated 15th January 2023, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State responded to Senator Adolphus Wagbara, Acting Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, expressing unwavering support for the recognition of Rt. Hon. SKE Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary, as mandated by the Enugu High Court.
The letter emphasized the importance of complying with the Enugu High Court’s judgment, disregarding the opposing judgment obtained by Senator Samuel Anyanwu from an FCT High Court, citing it as an abuse of the judicial process.
Governor Makinde highlighted that if Anyanwu had pursued an appellate court and received a favorable judgment, it would align with legal principles and the Nigerian constitution.
Truth Live News gathered that Governor Makinde’s letter reads, “I agree with the advice of the Board of Trustees and stand with the decision led by Your Excellency, emphasizing the need to avoid actions detrimental to the party’s chances in upcoming elections.”
Expressing commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Makinde pledged unwavering support for the party’s growth and success. He urged the Board of Trustees to continue advocating truth, setting standards, and providing examples for all party members.
This response from Governor Makinde serves as a wake up call to the party to prevent legal challenges in the coming off cycle.
