Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, has declared February 8, 9 and 10, 2024, to show his gratitude to God and the collective joy of the people.

The three-day to be used for State-wide crusade will be capped off on February 11, 2024, with official Thanksgiving Day marked “My case is different.”

Governor Eno announced this when he attended the first Government House Prayer Service for the year, 2024, Tagged: “The Most High Ruleth,” held at the Government House Chapel, Uyo.

In addition, Eno launched the Arise Initiative for the Elderly, to support and extend the seed of goodness earlier planted by the wife of the President.

He said: “The programme will provide N50,000 to 500 elders across the 31 LGAs, as a way to bring governance closer to the people.”

Accordingly, the programme is another way to show them gratitude for all they have done for the state, while alive.

Meanwhile, “the Office of the First Lady of the state, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, will manage the Initiative,” he added.

As a result of deep spirit of altruism through the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady of Nigeria Sen Oluremi Tinubu, 250 elderly citizens in the State received N100,000 each.

The Governor emphasized the need for transparency in the selection process and tasked the Transition Chairmen to ensure the programme gets to those intended for.

He spoke on how God from January 30, 2022, led his predecessor Mr Udom Emmanuel to unveil him as his preferred successor.

Confronted with 26 court cases, with eight making it to the Supreme Court, he said “all hell was broke loose.”

Ekerete Udoh, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor in a statement on Saturday quoted the Governor as saying “the court thrown out all those cases for lacking in merit.”

“Because God rules in the heart of men, the counsel of God prevailed,” he noted.
