Cross River State Governmment has denied alleged involvement in collecting money from civil servants for promotion purpose.
The Government disassociated itself on Tuesday in a public service announcement made by the office of the head of service in the state.
Accordingly, the office wrote: “The attention of the head of service, Cross River State has been with dismay to a preposterous Publication on social media.”
The publication titled “Red Alert” on the ongoing promotion exercise in the state.
It alleged an unnamed involvement of a Director in a corrupt act in the Civil Service Commission.
Consequently, “Cross River State Governmment disassociated itself from any such untoward practice and warned all those in its employ, their relatives and agents to desist forth with from paying money to any Governmment official for promotion purpose.”
Nevertheless, it’s important and instructive to state categorically that any promotion that does not follow due process and recommendation from the MDA will be rejected.
Also, “any promotion that the Senior Staff Management Committee (SSMC) of the relevant MDA without duly authenticated by the chairman Civil Service Commission will be rejected by the office of the Head of Service,” it announced.
Therefore, all public/civil servants who do not meet required maturity period for promotion in accordance with the Public Service Rules and extant Governmment Circulars will be rejected by the office of the head of service.
Accordingly, it enjoined all public/civil servants to note and be guided.
“This is for strict and immediate, compliance, please.”
