Taiwo Awoniyi marked his return from injury by finding the net for Nottingham Forest in their 2-1 home defeat against Arsenal in the Premier League on Tuesday, according to reports by James Agberebi.

Having been sidelined since November 2023 due to an injury sustained in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lesotho, Awoniyi made a significant impact in the match. Despite Forest’s loss, Awoniyi’s 89th-minute goal narrowed the scoreline to 2-1.

The Nigerian striker had previously scored in Forest’s encounters with Arsenal, contributing to a 2-1 defeat at the Emirates earlier in the season and securing a 1-0 victory in the last Premier League campaign.

Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka were the scorers for Arsenal in Tuesday’s clash.

As reported earlier, in another notable Premier League match, Elijah Adebayo secured a hat-trick, and Chiedozie Ogbene also found the net as Luton Town secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Brighton.
