Police Restrict Vehicles’ Movement Ahead Of Re-Run Election In C’River

The Cross River State Police command has placed restrictions on all forms of Vehicular movement on roads and waterways for the forthcoming Re-Run Election within the state.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Irene Ugbo, announced this in a press release made available to newsmen on Wednesday.

Certainly, the Re-Run Election will be in Yala and Obanliku LGAs in the Northern Senatorial District of the state.

Others include Akamkpa and Biase LGAs, Central Senatorial District of Cross River State south south Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the restriction followed the forth-coming Re-Run Election scheduled for Saturday February 3, 2024, between the hour of 12 (midnight) of Saturday.

Accordingly, throughout the period of the election, those on essential services such as INEC officials, election observers, medical personnel and accredited media will be allowed movement.

Similarly, the police advised members of the public, political class and electorates to cooperate with the security personnel on duty.

Nevertheless, the release highlighted the commitment of the Command to ensure peaceful and professional conduct as required by the rule of engagement.

It stated “we urged you to promptly call Cross River State Command helpline 08133568456 for actionable intelligence or distress.”

For instance, remember election is not do or die affair but a game of choice.

The release in part reads: “Restriction of Vehicular movement during the upcoming Re-Run election in Yala, Obanliku, Biase and Akamkpa LGAs.”

“Meanwhile, the command is resolute and committed to ensuring a peaceful and professional conduct as required by the rule of engagement.”
