C’River Govt To Donate Land For ICAN’s Secretariat

Cross River State Governor, Sen Bassey Edet Otu, has pledged to donate land for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria’s (ICAN) Secretariat as accounting professionals in the state.

Gov Otu made the pledge when the 59th National President of ICAN, Dr. Innocent Okwuosa, and his delegation visited him in Calabar.

Represented by his deputy Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, acknowledged pivotal role of ICAN in society.

For instance, he said they have produced outstanding accounting professionals.

In addition, Hon Odey said Cross River State has benefited from the body of accounting professionals.

Furthermore, he highlighted the remarkable contributions of their members in the State Exco.

Meanwhile, In an exclusive interview, Dr. Okwuosa emphasized that ICAN’s focus extends beyond technical expertise.

For instance, he said the institute champions accountability and transparency in governance.

He expressed hope that Cross River State, currently ranked 21st in the federation, will climb higher with the state government’s unwavering support.

Okwuosa who made the land request while highlighting the challenges of the ICAN in the state expressed gratitude to the governor of granting their request.

He prayed God to reward the Governor and his Exco for the support while the body is determined to work with Governmment to ensure accountability and transparency.

Whereas Members of ICAN in the State Executive Council included the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Mike Odere and Commissioner for Housing Development, Dr. Beatrice Igwe.

Others included the former Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Kelly Iyamba and the state Accountant-General, Dr. Glory Effiong.

Highlights of the event included the exchange of souvenirs and group photographs.
