Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, alongside government officials, conducted an inspection of ongoing road construction projects in Ekehuan, Ugbiyoko, and surrounding areas. Emphasizing the significance of the Ekehuan Road, which connects to Gelegele, the closest point to the Benin Port, Obaseki assured journalists of the project’s completion before his tenure ends in November 2024.
Accompanying him were top officials including the Commissioner for Road and Bridges, Ethan Uzamere, and the Commissioner for Public Safety and Security, Kingsley Uwagbale.
Truth Live News gathered that Governor Obaseki stressed the importance of the road for transporting materials during the construction of the Benin River Port and highlighted plans for a dedicated route once the port is operational. He expressed empathy for the residents enduring transportation hardships and pledged to finish all major projects initiated during his tenure.
The contractor, Engr. Ighiere Duke, projected the completion of the Ekehuan Road Project by October 2024, with concurrent earthwork and concrete activities underway. Permanent Secretary Ferguson Enabulele highlighted the use of durable concrete technology in road construction since 2016, ensuring longevity and minimal maintenance.
Residents and commuters expressed gratitude for the development initiatives, acknowledging the governor’s commitment to infrastructure enhancement across the state.
