In a night shrouded in darkness and terror, the tranquil villages of Ung.Ganye B and Sabon gida in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State were violently disrupted by the ruthless invasion of unknown gunmen.
Under the cloak of night, the assailants, mounted on motorcycles, descended upon the unsuspecting inhabitants, thrusting the community into chaos and despair.
The harrowing assault, which happened at approximately 10:00 PM on Monday, February 26, 2024, claimed the lives of five married men, forever altering the fabric of their families and the community they called home.
Among the deceased were Linus Ado, Oscar Anthony, Joel Nabiko, Abass Joseph, and Samuel Amadu, their names now etched in the annals of tragedy.
Three others, Peter Sule, Monday Gambo, and Emmanuel Berom, suffered grievous injuries in the onslaught and now fight for their lives under the care of medical professionals at the General Hospital in Gwantu.
Tragically, the echoes of violence reverberated once more on the night of February 27, 2024, as bandits unleashed terror upon the community of Ung Aute in Gonin Gora, Kaduna.
Two men were killed in the ruthless assault, while the fate of numerous abducted individuals hangs precariously in uncertainty.
In the wake of these heinous acts, the President of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) issued a solemn plea for peace and resilience amidst the anguish.
He implored the affected communities to maintain their composure and uphold the mantle of lawfulness in the face of adversity.
Concurrently, he called upon the relevant authorities to launch a thorough investigation into the root causes of the atrocities, advocating for the swift apprehension of the perpetrators and their nefarious sponsors.
Amidst the palpable grief that grips the region, the President of SOKAPU extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, beseeching divine solace to accompany them through their darkest hour.
To those grappling with injuries and trauma, he offered fervent prayers for their swift recovery, a beacon of hope in the shadow of despair.
In a fervent appeal to the state government, the SOKAPU President requested assistance for the victims, urging the provision of relief materials and the facilitation of resettlement efforts for displaced communities.
Additionally, he called for support for the medical expenses incurred by the injured, a measure aimed at alleviating their suffering and aiding their path to healing.
As the specter of violence looms large over Southern Kaduna and beyond, Comrade Samuel Kato Tabara issued a resolute call to action. He charged the state government to wield its authority in the pursuit of peace and security, vowing to stand alongside the affected communities until order is restored.
