The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has doused Nigerians fear on the present economic reality of the country adding that the country will surmount its challenges.

His message of hope was delivered during the Universal Week of Prayers, put together by the Benin City Christian Community in his palace.

Bible reading is not strange to the monarch, who practices African spirituality, symbolising that, indeed, faith can meet.

Reading Psalms 23, verse 1 from the Bible, “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want,” Oba Ewuare II expressed gratitude for the unwavering support received since his ascension to the throne. The event brought together a diverse audience, including members of the royal family, chiefs and palace functionaries.

Delivering his goodwill message at the solemn assembly, Oba Ewuare II, who thanked his prayer partners and subjects for their relentless support, said: “God’s time is the best. “We should not be afraid. All is well. Better days are ahead. May God almighty continually protect all of you.”

Earlier, the Chairman of Benin City Christian Community, Apostle Godspower Ogbonmwan, paid tribute to the royal father for his interest in religious activities and devotion to the 2024 annual prayers with the theme: “God is our refuge and strength.”

The Cleric, who was supported by Mrs Sunday Osadolor, drew inspiration from Psalms 46, verses 1-11.

Also, Ogbonmwan, in his sermon delivered in Edo language, lamented rising social vices in the world, and advised the Children of God to keep the commandments of God for them to enjoy his benefits not to be tormented by plagues.

The spiritual exercise, which was moderated by Reverend Olu Aibinuomo and Elder Agharese Odubor, also featured singing of hymns, praise and worship by the sonorous voices of Christ Apostolic Church of God Mission choir.
