Suspended Bauchi Central Senator, Abdul Ningi, has accused the Senate of attempting to silence him or have him arrested after he revealed alleged budget padding amounting to N3.7 trillion in the 2024 appropriation budget.
Ningi was suspended by the Senate for three months following his claims that projects worth N3.7 trillion in the budget were unaccounted for.
However, during an appearance on Arise TV, Ningi asserted that no one could suppress the information he had brought to light.
He stated, “I am well aware of how this parliament operates, having been involved for a long time. That’s why I am speaking out. Let’s talk openly.”
Ningi emphasized that he had not fabricated the figures and challenged anyone to question the evidence behind his claims.
He criticized the Senate for focusing on silencing or arresting him instead of addressing the issues he raised.
“Nobody has talked to me about evidence. Nobody has suggested even listening to me. All they are trying to do is to ensure that ‘how do we make sure that Ningi is silenced or arrested so that he doesn’t do anything?’
“I have unveiled these discrepancies, and neither they nor I will be able to contain the consequences,” Ningi declared.
