Napoli striker Victor Osimhen will miss Nigeria’s upcoming friendlies against Ghana’s Black Stars and Mali’s Eagles due to injury.
Osimhen, despite being an unused substitute in Napoli’s recent draw against Serie A leaders Inter Milan, barely trained in the days leading up to the match.
Caretaker manager Francesco Calzona attributed Osimhen’s absence to inflammation from an old injury, indicating that the striker is still recovering.
As a result, Osimhen’s name is notably absent from Napoli’s list of players released for international duty, and he will remain at Castel Volturno for at least two weeks to fully regain his fitness.
The Super Eagles are set to face Ghana on Friday, March 22, followed by a match against Mali four days later, both at the Grand de Stade Marrakech.
