In a decisive move at the Labour Party’s National Convention held in Nnewi, Anambra State, on Wednesday, the party has announced its selection of Peter Obi as its candidate for the 2027 Presidential election.
However, Governor Otti of Abia State has been granted the right of first refusal in this significant decision.
The announcement came through a communique signed jointly by the re-elected National Chairman of the Labour Party, Comrade Julius Abure, and the National Secretary, Umar Faruk Ibrahim.
Otti’s leadership and contributions within the party and allows him the opportunity to consider the presidential candidacy before any final decision is made.
The Labour Party’s National Convention in Nnewi witnessed deliberations and consultations among party members from various states across the country. The selection of Peter Obi and the acknowledgment of Governor Otti’s right of first refusal were outcomes of these deliberations, reflecting the collective will and aspirations of the party.
