Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs Lydia Shehu Jafiya , has described civil servants, as change agent.
Mrs Jafiya , description of civil servants reference their ability to institutionalize change in modern governance and societal development.
She made this known during a familiarization visit to the Directorates under her Ministry In Abuja.
She added “Civil Servants must see themselves as seasoned technocrats” for the promotion of growth, peace, stability and democracy.
Also, “they must encompass and exhibit values that will inspire others, institutions and individuals to be creative, innovative, patriotic and productive,” She said.
Therefore, “Let me state clearly that I am impressed with commitment of staff to duty especially Directors in the Ministry.”
She explained her observation while on a familiarization visit to the Directorates without prior notice.
She expressed surprise to find out that almost all the Directors and key staff already had seated and working in that early hours of the day.
Accordingly, “I want to implore you to remain resolute, committed and ensure team work.”
For instance, it will enable Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of Economy, Mr Wale Edun deliver on Ministry’s Mandate.”
She pledged to create an enabling environment for every category of staff to discharge his or her duties without any hindrance.
“I want to assure you that the challenges identified today, I will look into within the available resources.”
That’s because, no challenge is insurmountable,” Jafiya stated.
Director, Information and Public Relations, Mohammed Mang, reported that the Director Human Resources, Mrs Olusola Dada, pledged the staff’s commitment.
In a release made available to Truth Live News she said they will ensure full implementation of the government’s policies, programmes and projects.
Responding on behalf of Directors and staff of the Ministry, Mrs Dada, said implementation improves socio-economic growth of the country.”
Meanwhile, she Acknowledged what the Permanent Secretary, saw during tour of offices of Directors.
This is as a result of an impact and replication of the Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of Economy.
Mrs Dada thanked Minister of Finance and Co-ordinating Minister of Economy, Mr Edun, for having staff in their hearts.
She also thanked the Permanent Secretaries including that of Special Duties, Federal Ministry of Finance Mr Okokon Ekanem Udo, especially in relation to their training needs and welfare.
