Gov. Otu, Ndoma-Egba, Ita-Giwa, Mourn Founding Member Of APC In C’River

Cross River State Governor Sen Bassey Edet Otu, Sen Florence Ita-Giwa, and Sen Victor Ndoma-Egba, have mourned the demise of the founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, late Obong Enobong Thomas Umanah.

Born over 70 years ago, Late Obong Eteyen Enobong Umanah aka King of Boys was committed to the mother earth on Friday April 5, 2024.

At the funeral and memorial service conducted by the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Qua Parish, Governor Otu, described Obong Umanah as a dedicated community leader.

Also, Governor Otu, represented by his Deputy, Rt Hon. Dr Peter Odey, said in a condolence message that late Umanah was a devout Christian, and exemplary statesman.

Moreso, his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Abua Esq, relayed the sad news in a WhatsApp post on Friday April 5, 2024.

“He was an exceptional party member and one of my most steadfast supporters,” said the Governor.

Otu recalled that late Obong Umanah exerted immense effort to ensure his success in the election.

He said it pains him that “after working so hard to build a Cross River State that we all yearn to see, he will not be around to witness it.”

He further emphasized that he will greatly miss the late Obong Umanah’s remarkable leadership in Calabar South and across the state.

Therefore, he encouraged the family members and friends left behind to find solace in the knowledge that he lived a life that profoundly impacted many in the society.

The burial, held at the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Odukpani Qua Parish, in Odukpani Local Government Area, saw the presence of Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar,

Truth Live News gathered that the Former Minister of Culture and Tourism, High Chief Edem Duke, HRH Etinyin Dr Asuquo Ekpenyong, attended the funeral service.

Others who grace the event included Traditional Rulers, Religious leaders, party faithful and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Emmanuel Ironbar.
