Gov. Otu Of C’River Host Muslims During Eid-el-Fitr, Announces Plans To Establish Disability Commission

Cross River State Governor Sen. Bassey Edet Otu, has announced plans to establish Disability Commission for physically challenged.

He disclosed the plans while playing host to leaders of Muslim communities during the last day of the Ramadan fast.

C’River NUJ’s Assistant Secretary Kingsley Agim, shared this on social media.

According to him, the “Governor is doing his best to improve the living standard of physically challenged in the state.”

He quoted him thus: “We are coming up with the Disability Commission which will take care of programs that will cater to their welfare.”

Also, he said: “The physically challenged must also be able to feel the dividends of democracy.”

“I can assure you that you will also have a place as in the society,” Governor Otu added.

While he prayed that their bond and affinity grow even stronger, he observed that there is nothing prayers cannot do.

Moreso, he stated that the doors of the state were open because of prayers.

Therefore, “Forgive, love one another; live and let live,” said Governor Otu.

He noted that the Muslim Community has always been with him from day one.

“To have you in this number and capacity here goes a long way to underscore the affinity and love with which we share as brothers and sisters.”

“Let me thank you from the deepest of our hearts for all the prayers and love which you have showered on this government,” he concluded.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Cross River Muslim Community, Saraki Alhaji Garba Lawan IV, has explained that the Ramadan is a holy month set aside for Muslim faithfuls to seek Allah’s presence in prayer and supplication.

He said they visited the Governor to pray for him and the state for continuous blessings.

Alhaji Lawan IV, highlighted principles of Islam to include peace, love and good neighborliness.

He said those cardinal principles clearly exemplified by the holy prophet Mohammed.
