A new development has arisen in the ongoing dispute between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, concerning a money laundering accusation.
According to the latest report, the aide-de-camp (ADC) to former Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has been arrested and detained by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The female police officer’s arrest took place alongside several other policemen who were assigned to the embattled former governor.
These officers were detained under suspicion of facilitating Bello’s evasion from EFCC operatives, who had surrounded his residence in Abuja for his apprehension on Wednesday.
This operation was conducted as part of an ongoing inquiry into alleged misconduct and potential legal infractions by the former governor.
While specific details regarding the case remain limited, authorities have asserted that they are conducting a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the officers’ level of involvement in aiding the governor’s escape.
As of now, the Nigeria Police Force has not issued an official statement regarding the arrests.
However, sources have suggested that the officers may face charges related to obstructing justice or conspiring to impede a law enforcement operation.
