Former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, found himself in the eye of the storm as he arrived at the Abuja High Court today to face charges brought forth by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The accusations levied against him are linked to an alleged N2.7 billion fraud relating to the ill-fated Nigerian Air project.
Sirika served as the Minister of Aviation during the previous administration. His tenure was marked by ambitious projects aimed at revitalizing the country’s aviation sector, with the Nigerian Air project being one of the flagship initiatives.
However, the project faced severe criticism and controversy, ultimately leading to its cancellation. Now, Sirika stands accused of financial misconduct in connection with the project, with the EFCC alleging misappropriation of funds totaling N2.7 billion.
