Rivers State, Nigeria
Emeka Amadi, the Clerk of Rivers State House of Assembly, unequivocally disowned the faction aligned with Governor Sim Fubara, reinforcing the legitimacy of Speaker Martin Amaewhule’s leadership.
Amidst a backdrop of power struggles and conflicting allegiances, Amadi declared that Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo, Hon. Sokari Goodboy Sokari, and Hon. Adolphus Orubimie Timothy, purported members of Governor Sim’s faction, had been suspended from their legislative duties as of October 30th, 2023. He firmly asserted that these individuals had no rightful claim to represent the House or hold any official positions within it.
“The three-member assembly,” Amadi emphasized, “cannot lay claim to be officers of the House. Their affiliations with Governor Fubara’s faction do not supersede the lawful procedures and protocols established within the House.”
