Gov.Otu Steps In To Settle C’River’s Assembly Speaker’s Impeachment Saga

The Cross River State Governor Sen. Bassey Edet Otu, has urged the aggrieved State House of Assembly members including the speaker to understand that members have rights and benefits.

Otu in a closed-door meeting with all the 25 aggrieved house members on Saturday night restated his commitment to constitutional democracy.

He also emphasized on separation of powers and the role of law, adding that due process should be the order of the day.

In a release made available to newsmen, the Chief Press Secretary Comrade Nsa Gill said all the 25 members of the state house of Assembly had agreed to restore normalcy and maintain status quo with the speaker Hon. Elvert Ayambem.

Again, the fourth paragraph in the release emphasized the need for Unity and a purpose-driven Legislature.

Gill on the 27th of May 2024, said that the speaker Hon. Elvert Ayambem pledged to lead with decency, integrity and commitment to welfare of members.
