In a strategic move to secure victory in the upcoming Edo State Governorship Election scheduled for September 21, 2024, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has unveiled an updated list of members for its National Campaign Council.
This council, tasked with steering the party’s efforts towards a triumphant campaign, is a powerhouse of seasoned politicians and influential figures within the party.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP, exercising its powers and demonstrating its commitment to electoral success, has appointed a dynamic team led by H.E. Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as Chairman. Joining him as Deputy Chairmen are H.E. Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori Francis and H.E. Dr. Kefas Agbu, underscoring the party’s strategic focus on leveraging experience and diverse regional representation.
Notable members include former Vice Presidents H.E. Alh. Atiku Abubakar and H.E. Arch. Nnamadi Sambo, both bringing a wealth of experience and political acumen to the council. The inclusion of H.E. Sen. Adolphus Wabara, Ph.D., BOT Chairman, and H.E. Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum, Acting National Chairman, highlights the party’s intent to combine leadership with grassroots mobilization.
Prominent governors such as H.E. Sen. Bala Mohammed, H.E. Engr. Seyi Makinde, and H.E. Godwin Obaseki, among others, are also key members, reflecting a broad-based coalition aimed at a resounding victory. Additionally, influential figures such as H.E. Dr. James Ibori and H.E. Chief Lucky Igbinedion have been tasked with pivotal roles, ensuring strategic depth and outreach.
The council, featuring a total of 144 members, includes senators, former governors, and party stalwarts, each bringing unique strengths to the campaign. The list is a testament to the PDP’s resolve to harness a wide array of talents and ensure a robust campaign structure.
All council members are requested to attend the inauguration ceremony scheduled as follows:
