The Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) campaign council for the 21 September governorship election in Edo State, Mathew Iduoriyemkewen, has said Nigerians must start to chase away poverty from the country beginning from Edo State by voting for Asue Ighodalo, the governorship candidate of the party, noting that a vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC), is a vote for more poverty and hardship.

He stated this in Benin at the inauguration of the Deputy Director-General of the party’s campaign council on religious organizations and cultural affairs, Osagie Erhunmwunse.

“Anyone that is voting for APC is voting for more poverty. This is because they don’t have any plan for the government.

“We must come together to chase poverty away from Nigeria and we must start from Edo state. God has given Edo state the human capacity.

“We should not allow the suffering in Nigeria to continue. We should all continue our political evangelism. This is a fight for our survival as a people of Edo state.”

In his acceptance speech, Osagie Erhunmwunse, said that his appointment is a demonstration of PDP’s recognition of the diverse religions in Edo State and highlights that, as a party beyond government.

He described the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie, as men who are competent, tested and trusted in all facets of life.

“These men are no strangers to the economic and political challenges of Edo State. And so for us going to sell these candidates fills us with enthusiasm because we are going to sell a product we totally believe in,” Erhunmwunse said.

Earlier, the Chairman of PDP in the state, Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, described the segment of the campaign council as very important to the party because the members are in touch with the people almost on daily basis.

“We enjoin you to join hands with PDP to reduce the suffering in the land by voting our candidate,” Aziegbemi said.
