The All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial campaign council in Edo State is facing internal strife following a misleading statement by Barr Adaze Emwanta, claiming a Federal High Court in Abuja had nullified the PDP’s 2024 primaries and Asue Ighodalo’s candidature.

Emwanta’s statement sparked jubilation in the APC camp, but was swiftly refuted by PDP’s counsel, Akinlolu Kehinde, and debunked by the Certified True Copy of the court judgment released on Friday.

A senior member of the APC campaign council, who requested anonymity, criticized Emwanta’s actions, stating that his “media recklessness” has brought electoral reproach to the party, making them appear unserious to voters and the party’s candidate, Monday Okpebholo, has reportedly banned Emwanta from his campaign office following an emergency strategic meeting.

He said, “Adaze Emwanta is never a serious character that should be taken seriously going by his media recklessness and notorious antecedence. His misleading statement has caused a serious damage to us as Edo voters now see us as unserious party going into election trying to reap from where we didn’t sow.

“this nauseating misleading statement has given an undeserved sympathy to our opposition candidate, Asue Ighodalo by Edolites and increased his popularity astronomically in less than 24 hours.

He concluded, “after an emergency strategic meeting, a visibly angry Monday Okpebholo has given the severe warning that Adaze Emwanta should never be allowed to be seen anywhere close to his campaign office any more.”
