Chief Francis Inegbeniki, the Uzoya of Esanland, has resigned from his prestigious position as the Edo APC State Vice Chairman (Central) and officially joined the PDP.

Speaking to the Esan Central PDP Elders Council on Saturday, Inegbeniki revealed his reasons for leaving the APC and called on other dissatisfied APC leaders to follow his lead.

Chief Inegbeniki commended the PDP leaders and delegates for electing Barr Asue Ighodalo as their candidate, describing the primary as the epitome of internal party democracy. In stark contrast, he labeled the APC primary a chaotic and embarrassing affair.

“The PDP remains the largest party in Africa,” he declared, emphasizing his belief in the party’s strength and unity.

Explaining his move, Inegbeniki stated that his primary motivation for entering politics was to see an Edo Governor of Esan descent. He urged PDP leaders to seize this God-given opportunity to produce the next governor of the state, stressing the importance of setting aside partisan politics to select the best candidate.

Inegbeniki revealed that even within the APC’s inner circles, there is consensus that their candidate is no match for Barr Ighodalo. However, due to partisan loyalty, they continue to support a losing cause. This, he said, conflicts with his political ideology and his mission to secure an Edo Governor of Esan extraction.

He also highlighted that many APC leaders remain in the party only due to promises of federal board appointments, despite their belief in Barr Ighodalo’s superiority and inevitable victory. Chief Inegbeniki urged these leaders, especially those from Edo Central, to take a courageous step and support the PDP candidate for the betterment of their children’s future and the presentation of the best candidate from Edo Central.

Chief Inegbeniki was warmly welcomed into the PDP fold by prominent figures including Senator Clifford Ordia (represented by Deputy Leader and DG, Esan Central PDP Governorship Campaign Council, MSE Adekunle Oboh), Party Chairman Apostle Mathew Ebhotiemen, Council Chairman Hon. Paul Iyoha, and several members of the PDP State Executive Committee and Esan Central leadership
