In a crucial moment for democratic engagement, the Owan Nation recently extended invitations to the three major gubernatorial candidates in Edo State: those from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and Labour Party (LP). This event was set to be an important platform for the candidates to present their visions and policies directly to the people of the Owan Nation, allowing for transparent discourse and voter engagement.

However, only one candidate seized this opportunity—Asue Ighodalo of the PDP. His presence at the event underscored his commitment to engaging with the electorates and showcased his readiness to address their concerns. Ighodalo utilized this platform to articulate his plans, policies, and vision for the future, demonstrating a proactive approach to governance.

In contrast, the absence of the APC and LP candidates was conspicuous. Their failure to attend the event not only disappointed many in the Owan community but also signaled a missed opportunity to connect with a significant voter base. This absence could be perceived as a lack of seriousness or disregard for the constituents of Owan Nation, potentially damaging their credibility and voter trust.

The implications of this scenario are significant. Should the Owan Nation decide to endorse Asue Ighodalo following his dedicated engagement and comprehensive presentation, it may lead to frustration among the other parties. However, this potential endorsement would stem from Ighodalo’s evident commitment and competence, as he actively engaged with the community and shared his policy plans.

The PDP candidate’s attendance and active participation in the event not only highlighted his dedication but also positioned him as a serious contender in the eyes of the Owan Nation. The APC and LP’s absence might cost them critical support, as the electorates tends to favor candidates who prioritize direct engagement and demonstrate a clear commitment to addressing their needs.
