Attempts by the combined forces of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State to politicize the case between some Enigie and The Palace in Benin City have failed, with the case now adjourned until October 17.
Efforts to recruit protesters to storm the court and create chaos also failed, as no youth agreed to be recruited by politicians whose children are safely abroad in Europe and America.
The case, which was heard on Monday, July 15, was adjourned until October 17, thwarting the party’s plans to incite unrest.
Reacting to the development, Erasmus Igbinoghodua, a resident of Benin City in Oredo Local Government Area, stated that Edo people have become wiser. He noted that no parent will allow their children to be used by politicians for selfish motives.
“Edo people are wiser than ever before. They have realized that some people, especially those in Edo APC, are politicizing the case for their own selfish ends. No one agreed to be recruited to fight. Parents were fantastic today, not allowing their children to protest, knowing that the politicians’ children are safe abroad. It’s good that the children didn’t come out to be used as cannon fodder. Now that the case is adjourned till October 17, there will be moments of respite.
“It is despicable that some unscrupulous politicians are only interested in what benefits them and not the good of the majority,” he said.
