Abuja, Nigeria
It was a glorious moment as the African Diaspora Union (AFRIDU), a Pan-African diplomatic organization representing the descendants of African people, recently honored Her Regal Majesty Olori Amb. Dr. Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi, wife of the Ooni of Ife, by appointing her as a African Queen Mother.
This appointment is a testament to her influence and dedication to the African diaspora.
Truth Live News gathered that AFRIDU was established following key resolutions aimed at recognizing and supporting people of African descent. The African Union’s resolution, DIASPORA/ASSEMBLY/AU/DEC1 (1), passed in 2012, and the United Nations’ resolution 68/237, adopted on December 23, 2013, which proclaimed the International Decade for People of African Descent (A/RES/69/16), provided the foundational framework for AFRIDU. As a result, AFRIDU was officially registered by the South African government on August 14, 2018.
The Nigeria chapter of AFRIDU was launched in November 2023, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s expansion. This chapter will host over 2,000 delegates from around the world in October 2024, in an event themed “International Gathering in Honour of African Descendants in Diaspora Home Coming.”
The award ceremony was graced by several distinguished leaders of AFRIDU including:
– Archbishop Prof. Chidiebere Anelechi Ogbu, AFRIDU President
– Chief Ambassador Zainab Mohammed , African Director of Special Projects
– Dr. Breakforth Abraham Onwubuya, Diplomatic Administrator for Nigeria
– Dr. Success Omade, African Director for Humanitarian Services
AFRIDU had the distinct honor of presenting Her Regal Majesty Olori Amb. Dr. Temitope Enitan-Ogunwusi, known affectionately as the African Queen Mother, as a Special Envoy. This role highlights her exceptional contributions to promoting African culture and unity across the diaspora.
As AFRIDU continues to foster connections among African descendants globally, this appointment serves as a beacon of hope and solidarity, furthering the mission of cultural restoration and unity
The upcoming international gathering in October 2024 will undoubtedly reinforce these bonds, celebrating the rich heritage and contributions of African descendants worldwide.
