In a significant political move, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Edo State governorship election, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, launched his ward-to-ward campaign in Ovia South West on Thursday. As the PDP campaign, led by Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie, traverses the state, the residents of Ugbogui and Evobongbon have voiced strong support for the party and its candidate in the upcoming September 21 election.
The campaign kick-off was marked by enthusiastic declarations of allegiance from key local leaders. Mr. Ihaguebor Ajiki, the PDP local government chairman, welcomed the campaign team, urging constituents to vote for Ighodalo, whom he described as the harbinger of true development.
The event, characterized by cultural displays, attracted thousands of supporters and notable defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), including Mr. Yomi Oladepo and Mr. John Obasuyi.
Dr. Ighodalo, addressing the jubilant crowd, expressed gratitude for their support and outlined his commitment to sustaining peace, security, and development in the area. He emphasized education as a top priority and promised job creation and micro-credit schemes for women, along with capacity-building programs for youth.
Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, the state PDP chairman, reiterated the party’s commitment to good governance, urging voters to choose PDP for a prosperous Edo State. The campaign, gaining momentum with each ward, continues to galvanize support as it advances through Ovia South West.
