PDP Holds Ward Congress, A’Ibom Gov. Warns Elected Officers Against Diabolic Oath

UYO: The Akwa Ibom state Governor Umo Bassey Eno, has warned elected executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against diabolic Oath.

Governor Eno, gave the warning while answering questions from journalists at just concluded PDP Ward Congress in Akwa Ibom state.

He participated in the exercise in his own Ward Centre, Ibiakpan Obotim Ward II, Nsit Ubium LGA.

Chief Press Secretary Ekerete Udoh, in a Facebook post said Gov. Eno charged the newly elected officers to live up to expectations.

“We want to request that all our team and all our people that are elected do their work and be loyal to the party.”

Especially, “now that we have started the process of setting up a brand new structure for the party,” said the Governor.

“Don’t go and take an oath from anybody,” he warned that the only oath is their swearing-in to office.

Governor Eno while instructing them to do what the party directs, he also said that “The party is supreme.”

“What the party wants is what will happen, not your personal opinion,” he reiterated.

Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom Governor has said that from the reports he received across the state, the congress went well.

Also, he said he has noticed that all the party guidelines and principles were observed.

According to him, “We had our party representatives from Abuja, independent observers, as well as INEC around.”

“So all the requirements were met,” he stated.

Again, affirming that the Congress was very peaceful, he went ahead to express trust in God that this is how it will continue.

Speaking at the Congress, a representative of the PDP at the national level Barr Hassan Yakubu, observed that the exercise was credible and peaceful.

While the State Chairman of the PDP, Elder Aniekan Akpan, said that the reports from returning officers in the various wards indicated that the process was very peaceful and smooth.

He said the PDP is ready to participate and win the upcoming local government elections.

The elected Chairman of Ibiakpan Obotim Ward II, Mr. Jephath Tom, thanked the leaders and members of the party for trusting him with the responsibility of leading the ward.
