The Edo State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the immediate suspension of its ongoing campaigns.
This action comes ahead of a ten-day nationwide protest against the hunger and hardship that the party claims have been inflicted on Nigerians by the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration.
In a press statement released to Truth Live News on Wednesday, Honorable Matthew Iduoriyekemwen, the Director General of the Edo PDP Gubernatorial Campaign Council, declared the party’s stance.
The statement reads, “In view of the imminent ten days protest against hunger and pain occasioned by the visionless and uncaring APC administration, we, the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State, are constrained to suspend our ongoing statewide campaign till further notice.”
Honorable Iduoriyekemwen further emphasized the party’s solidarity with the suffering masses, stating, “This is our own modest show of solidarity with the pauperized Nigerian people. We feel your pains.”
This move by the Edo PDP underscores the growing discontent and the urgent call for action against the current administration’s policies, which many believe have increased the economic challenges facing the nation. As the protest days approach, all eyes will be on the unfolding events and the responses from various political stakeholders.
